The Annual Gathering at the Popular Lakeside Resort Town
Every year in October thousands of off-road and overland enthusiasts descend on a sleepy little resort town nestled in the mountains just 95 miles east of Los Angeles. The occasion is the annual Big Bear Adventure Van Expo.
The Big Bear event has traditionally been one of the most popular stops on the circuit and draws many of the top van manufacturers and ancillary brands that fuel the industry. Visitors get to see all the latest designs and layouts from top van builders like Field Van, Storyteller Overland, Sportsmobile, 4 Wheel Camper, Owl Vans, Caleche Customs, Atlas Vans, Momentum Vans, Gone Mobile, Grit Overland, Winnebago, Airstream, Adventure Wagon and many more plus top accessory brands like Aluminess, RB Components, Roam Adventure Company, Flarespace, Brutek, Sunflare Solar, Tembotusk, Cake Ebikes, and Redarc just to name a few.
The event is just one of eleven stops the expo makes from Aoril to October every year as it travels to Tennessee, Texas, Arizona, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and California bringing all the latest overland and vanlife vehicles and products. This popular event features not only dozens of custom van manufacturers but also dozens more vendors hawking the specialized gear and accessories that go along with the lifestyle. This show has everything from rooftop tents and self contained adventure trailers to power management and gear storage systems. The event also features food trucks, live music and local brews and the whole thing happens right in town within walking distance of the many friendly bars and restaurants that line the main drag through the center of town.
In addition to the extensive lineup of manufacturers and vendors the show also features a DIY Competition for those eternally brave amateur van builders who did it on their own. And if you get there early enough you can park in the exclusive parking row reserved just for custom vans. This event is much more than just an outdoor trade show for van builders, it is a family friendly lifestyle event with free admission for fans and a host of other activities throughout the weekend to keep the whole gang entertained.
