We recently had the opportunity to work with a set of FLi Telescoping Lights from Risk Racing and came away very impressed. The lights not only provided powerfully bright LED light over a nice large work area but they were also very easy to set up and use.

The occasion was the annual Speed and Sport Adventures dual sport ride in Park City, Utah. The challenge was keeping 40 motorcycles and support vehicles cleaned and maintained during the course of three grueling days of off-road adventure. Mother Nature did her part to keep things interesting and provided torrential rains throughout the first day of the event. This kept the dust to a minimum, a fact appreciated by all, but left a lot of muddy bikes in the driveway at the end of the day.

Cleaning and prepping all those muddy motorcycles every night proved to be a perfect test for the Risk Racing lights. They provided plenty of light for after dinner bike washing well into the evening and when repairs were needed they again provided a nice consistent and bright light source to work on the bikes and perform necessary repairs and maintenance long after the sun went down.

The lights we were using were the FLi Over-Lander 10’ Telescoping Light and the FLi 6.5’Telescoping Light. Both provided excellent light with the 6.5 unit providing 700 true Lumens of LED flood light while the Over-Lander pumps out an impressive 2600 Lumens of super bright LED flood light. The 6.5 unit provided great light for light work but the added height of the Over-Lander proved to be a big advantage as that additional height lets the circle of light extend to a much larger radius. Both weather resistant units are made of aluminum and come with a fully adjustable tripod, both are USB-C rechargeable and feature optional red flood LED’s to help preserve your night vision. The 6.5 unit weighs in at a svelte 1lb 2oz including the 2600 mAh 18650 Li-ion battery and tripod while the Over-Lander tips the scales at 4lbs 6 oz including a powerful 14,000 mAh Li-ion battery pack and the heavy-duty 10’ tripod.

The top-of-the-line Over-Lander has a few extra features that make it stand out, it has a remote control that works up to 50’, fully adjustable brightness settings from 0-100%, up to 72 hours of runtime and even has the ability to charge other USB devices through a built-in power bank.

Needless to say over the course of the week these lights proved to be very popular and provided the kind of consistent work light we needed for a wide variety of uses from re-building forks to washing 40 dirty motorcycles every night.
